All Info

Welcome in the New Year with the splendours and stunning scenery along the Rhine on this relaxing river cruise. Germany is famed for its celebrations and this holiday includes visits to some of the famous towns along the Rhine including Cologne, Koblenz and Rüdesheim. We welcome the New Year in the quaint and lively town of Rüdesheim with a celebration dinner and entertainment on board. The 4-star Mps Switzerland II hosts you in style with all meals, selected free drinks and entertainment in an informal, fun and friendly atmosphere.

Day 1: UK to Cologne
Depart London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet in the morning on the Eurostar to Brussels, arriving in just over 2 hours. Continue by coach to Cologne and the Mps Switzerland II. Alternative travel to and from Cologne can be made from regional UK airports – see flight information and options. Time to settle into your cabin or explore Cologne before dinner. Evening sailing to Bonn arriving late evening. Overnight in Bonn.

Day 2: Bonn to Koblenz
This morning we continue cruising upstream to Koblenz, giving you the opportunity to get to know our delightful ship, and of course your fellow passengers, and enjoy a delicious lunch on board. Mid-afternoon we arrive in Koblenz, on the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. In the past Koblenz has been a major trading hub and still is a very busy part of both rivers. Explore the town, or join our optional guided walking tour. Overnight in Koblenz.

Day 3: NEW YEARS EVE - Koblenz to Rüdesheim
The spectacle continues this morning as we sail through the Middle Rhine. Castles, fortresses and sleepy hamlets majestically pass by in this, the narrowest and deepest part of the River Rhine marked by the legendary Lorelei Rock. Your celebrations can start early with a few extra tipples added to the included drinks menu today - cocktail of the day, sparkling wine by the glass and all standard spirits until 1am New Year’s day. We arrive in Rudesheim early afternoon, with time to take in this gorgeous little town. Explore on your own, or join our Cruise Director on a walk to the famous Drosselgasse - a unique cobbled lane just 144 metres long, packed with bars, restaurants and live music where you can try a delicious Rüdesheimer Kaffee made with Asbach brandy. Overnight in Rudesheim with the Captain’s Dinner and count down to the New Year.

Day 4: Rüdesheim to Cologne
This morning we sail back to Cologne, enjoying the scenery and a relaxing New Year’s day brunch served all morning in the restaurant. We arrive during the afternoon and have free time to explore this historical city with its impressive cathedral. Overnight in Cologne and farewell dinner on board.

Day 5: Cologne to UK
After breakfast we disembark and transfer by coach to Brussels where we take the Eurostar to London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet, arriving during the afternoon. Or transfer to Cologne/Bonn Airport to join a return flight to the UK

Note: Order of excursions are subject to change depending on local conditions.

Travel & Luggage
There are no actual luggage weight restrictions imposed by the rail companies. However, for your comfort and convenience we recommend you limit your luggage to the following: ONE main suitcase⁄holdall with built in wheels weighing no more than 15 to 20kgs per person – Plus ONE small shoulder bag⁄holdall per person. Restricting the bulk of your luggage to manageable sizes will make the journey more enjoyable. You will need to move all your own bags on and off trains and between platforms and transfer vehicles. Our tour manager will be unable to provide physical assistance with luggage. On TGV trains, you may be allocated seats on the the upper floor, which means you would have to carry your bags upstairs. Many train stations and platforms are big and long, sometimes with stairs or escalators. Some stations have lifts, but using them can involve a longer walk, so be prepared for this when walking with your luggage.

The Tour Manager⁄Escort will not be able to provide you and⁄or your luggage with physical assistance at anytime. Where overnight or main hotels are less than 150 metres (approx) from the station, no transportation or luggage assistance will be provided.

Please Help us to Help You
In our experience, clients who discuss with us their concerns over mobility limitations and⁄or health issues (including visibility, hearing etc) when booking, are far more satisfied with the level of service we provide and enjoy a more relaxed and fun holiday, compared to those who attempt to cope without the benefit of our expert advice.
We must stress that these holidays are not suitable for users of mobility scooters, wheelchairs or walking aids (frames, sticks, etc).
